spirit Vs. flesh

As I was doing a bible study on the fruits of the Flesh and the Fruits of the Spirit, it occurred to me that in myself I am unable to obtain the Fruits of the Spirit…

I had always thought that the Holy Spirit gave me the fruits.  This is true in a sense, but I will not obtain those fruits just by the Lord waving his hand or speaking it forth.  It is work to obtain these fruits.  I have found that I must stay vigilant/alert.  I must look at my motives, feelings, thoughts.   I have to be willing to lay down my old self also known as the flesh.

The job of the Holy Spirit is to ENABLE us, or help us stay strong in making these correct or Christ like choices.  We learn what these Christ like choices are by reading the word and through the Holy Spirits teaching (which will always align with the word of God).

The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals ALL truth.  We don’t come to the saving grace of the Lord by our own, no, the Holy Spirit has to be present revealing this truth to us.  If the Holy Spirit is not present we can, and do, say the sinners prayer.  We can get it intellectually on our own.  But there is not a true conversion if the Holy Spirit isn’t present.

I couldn’t understand why I would see people, myself included, giving our lives to God but nothing changed….I don’t know how many times I gave my life to God but would walk out with not one change.  I would try my hardest to be “good”, but nothing changed I always failed.

One day the Holy Spirit was truly present.  He revealed the Truth to me.  Not my truth, or the worlds truth.  It wasn’t anything I did that brought me to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  It was the Holy Spirit.

I believe that this is a hurdle that many Christians have when walking with the Lord.  We always try in ourselves.  In our own strength, in our own intellect.  We try to manipulate circumstances because we believe its what the Lord wants.  We lean on our own understanding.  We look through the eyes of the flesh.  We think with the mind of the flesh.

A pastor told me one time, “We walk in the flesh about 80% of the time and walk in spirit 20% of the time.  I would agree that is what many Christians do…But this is not what the word of God tells us to do.  I do not believe that walking in the spirit is some mystical thing.  It is very simple, Its about your choices.  Will you choose the narrow road that leads to life or will you choose the wide road that leads to destruction?

Walking in the flesh will always point to yourself:

Galatians 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Walking in the spirit will always point to God.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

OCCULT PRACTICES IN THE CHURCH?!

Foretelling the future has been practice through various means. Some practiced this through tarot card reading with the first written recording dating back to 1540. The first tarot card deck created for divination or occult purposes was by a person named Etteilla. He believed, amongst others, that this practice dates back to the Book of Thoth. Thoth was a God worshiped in ancient Egypt. Also known in other cultures or regions as Neith, Ra, Horus and Hathor. Egypt believed that Thoth was in charge of maintaining the universe, Arts of magic, writing, development of science and judging the dead, to name a few.

Definition of divination is the art or act of foretelling future events or revealing occult knowledge.

Definition of Occult is “knowledge from the hidden” or “knowledge of the paranormal”.

So now that we have a little back ground of Foretelling the future with Tarot cards, let’s see what the word of God says.

Deuteronomy 18:10-13  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

So after review of this verse I would like to interject here. If you are a Christian you should NOT be practicing card readings or astrology readings in any form, it is divination.

The reason why I have decided to do this article is because, there are those out there that believe that Tarot card reading and astrology readings are ok as a Christian. There is a church out there that is actually practicing this and teaching it to young adults. Let me provide you the evidence of this tragedy.

Bethel Church out of Redding California is instructing the young adults to “engage new comers through Destiny cards” quote from Theresa Dedman’s Blog. Theresa is one of the Administrators at Bethel in their Supernatural Ministry and Creative Arts Ministry. This church also practices necromancy (see my other post, Witchcraft in the church). So to be honest I wasn’t very surprised to hear Bethel was involved in promoting divination or Occultism. There are two pastoral staff members from Bethel church that have recently condoned and support the use of Destiny cards or Destiny readings. Christalignment claims to be doing this so they can reach out to New Agers. They claim this format gives them an open door to share Gods love and receive healing.

It sounds good and right to reach out to any people to share the gift of salvation, but this is not what is really happening. In reality, they are sharing occultism and divination. They are coming in the name Jesus and are deceiving many!

Mathew 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

It is not hard to spot the similarities between Destiny Cards or Destiny Readings and Tarot Cards or Tarot Readings. I went on their web site to get a better understand of what exactly these cards are and what the purpose of them are. They have 5 different types of readings. They have the Destiny reading, their sight says that this reading gives insight into relationships, career and their spiritual life (this sums up the definition of divination). They also have Animal readings, they say that the strength of the particular animal cards drawn for you will give insight into life issues and feelings (umm, what? I don’t think I need to explain what is wrong with this. This reminded me of the animal Gods that the ancient Egyptians worshiped or the animal spirits that are on totem poles). They have Psalm readings which will give insight about your past, present and future (again, look at the definition of divination. You can also see that when doing a tarot card reading, this is the purpose of the reading). They have another reading called Colour card reading. In this reading they assigning cards to you, these cards will have a color and the meaning of this color. The meaning of this color will speak to you. Jen Hodge from Christalignment posted a YouTube video, in this video she said that these readings can really change lives, gives comfort and hope. She said these readings are NOT meant for Christians but the lost. If these Destiny Cards are Godly as she states, then why aren’t they for his church too? At times we need encouragement.

“We believe they are more predictive and higher than most cards, and can address a current life question that you may have.” This is a quote from their website. What “most cards” are they referring too? Perhaps tarot? They claim that their cards are not like Tarot Card reading, then why would they compare their readings to it??? How can a card reading, of any kind, address current life questions, unless it is divination or occultism?

“Many lives are changed as clients receive highly accurate readings” This is a quote from their Facebook page. So if they are doing this in the guise of Jesus, why is there no mention of Jesus Christ, Salvation, or Repentance? I have not read one testimony or heard one testimony from a client that received the gift of salvation after their reading either. Could it be because this is not bringing anyone to the saving grace of Jesus Christ?

Ok, enough with quotes from them. I believe you can see the point I am trying to make. If you do more research on this group you will also see pictures or videos of the staff playing music at festivals with people dancing topless to their music! I didn’t see one member from Christalignment stop playing the music or ask the nude people dancing to stop. No, they kept on playing! There are many accounts you can find on your own about this group. The word of God tells us not to be a part of this world. Why did they continue playing music for the nude dancers if they are not to be a part of worldly behaviors? I’m genuinely curious. It leaves me to believe that they are a part of this world…Christians can’t be a part of this world and be with God. Jesus was very clear on this. It’s one or the other…

Let me remind you that Bethel Church in Redding California condones this practice from Christalignment. Not only do they condone this practice but they are also instructing their young adults to use these cards with newcomers. Again, Bethel Church practices divination, occultism and Necromancy. All which are an abomination to the Lord. This church is leading many astray. They have thousands of churches around the world under their teachings. Please people be very careful of who you associate with and who you learn from, a little leaven corrupts the whole man!

Bethel Church Pastors and Administrators have given statements stating that the Destiny Readings, from Christalignment are prophesying to the lost.

Acts 16:17-18 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

Why do you think Paul rebuked that spirit? She was speaking the truth, in fact she was letting everyone who heard her shouts that they WERE the servants of God who will tell people the way to be saved. Paul Knew that the spirit of prophesy or fortune telling in this Lady was not a clean spirit! The spirit in this lady was not the spirit of God.

With all the evidence I have found and looking at the fruits of Bethel Church and Christalignment and aligning everything with the word of God, I believe, I know, that they are not being led by Gods spirit, but being led by unclean spirits.

The word of God tells us not to associate with proclaiming brothers and sisters in Christ who do not practice Gods ways. The word of God also tells us get them out of our circle.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators; not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world: but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat. For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without, God judges. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.

There is much more out there that I could have put in this document. I pray this is enough for the reader to go and find this stuff out for themselves. Go do the studying of the word yourself. Compare all teachings to what the word of God. Look at the fruits of people who proclaim to be a Brother or Sister. We are living in deceiving times, stay vigilant in the Lord.

Christian?

My heart is troubled because I witness people say that they love God… I witness people say that they know God… I witness people say that they are Christians…

My heart is troubled because there will come a time when each person will kneel before Jesus, believers and unbelievers. There will come a time when each one of us will have to account for our time here on earth, believers and unbelievers. Anyone can say that they believe in Jesus, but that does NOT mean that we know Jesus or that he knows us (Mathew 7:22-23). My heart is troubled because their fruit does not bear life. The word of God teaches us that we will know someone by the fruit that they bear (Mathew 7:18-20). We will know if they are true followers of Christ or just believers of Christ. The word of God also teaches us not to judge someone right? Wrong, the word of God teaches us to look at someone’s fruit and see if it is good fruit or bad fruit. The word of God also tells us that we are to hold brother and sister accountable (fellow Christians)(Mathew 18:15-17). We of course are to do it in love, but none the less we are to try and hold them accountable when we see them veering off track. We are told to do this so they do not pick the wrong road, the broad road. If we see a brother or sister making choices that are not in line with what Jesus taught us we are to speak to them because we love them and don’t want them to fall from God. There have been many times that a fellow Christian has held me accountable for a choice I have made. I am so happy that they did! Not only because they may have saved me from hell, but also because the correction has always given me a better outcome. We are also to judge between what is good and what is evil. So this business of Christians not judging is a fallacy that is in the world. With that being said we are not to judge on appearances, motives, and so forth. Just between good and evil, and yes people do make good choices and evil choices. In basic terms this is saying choose Gods ways or choose the devils ways, the narrow path, or the broad path…Now that that one point is cleared up, I would like to get to the heart of my heart today. Many say that they believe in Jesus, many say that they are Christians, and many say that they love Jesus. But did you know that the word of God is very clear about each one of these things? The word of God says in John 14

21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

After being reminded of this scripture, I must ask a question. Do you really love him? Do you keep his commands? When you don’t are you able to receive correction from either other brothers and sister or the Holy Spirit? If you do not keep his commands the word of Jesus is plain, YOU DO NOT LOVE HIM. These are some pretty rough things to swallow, but they are still the truth, they are words that are infallible, they are Gods words! DO YOU LOVE HIM???? Or have we been loving the world or our own self? Have we been slowly or rapidly pushing him away until we bend to the world? Until we can’t hear the conviction any longer??

This is one of the reasons my heart is hurting. Too many that profess to believe in God do not have a clue that they are not on the straight and narrow path, Gods path. They do not have a clue that they are baring bad fruit, they do not have a clue that they are not living their life the way that God commands. Some may know that they aren’t, some know that they compromise, and some just refuse to take a look at themselves. But it is clear in all the scriptures I referenced above that if we do not judge between good and evil, if we do not hold each other accountable, and if we do not live out Gods commandments we DO NOT LOVE HIM and we are risking our salvation and our brothers and sister salvation. Worst of it all is because of all these things when we bend our knees at that great and terrible day Jesus could say, depart from me I never knew you….

Witchcraft in the church?!

I am going to lay out for everyone what I have seen and read in a particular church, not just any church but a mega church that is linked to many churches, big and small, throughout the nations.  Even your church may be linked to them, look into it if you find this post true.

In the bible we are given commandments and statues on practicing witchcraft.  We can read in Deuteronomy 18 and in Leviticus 19.  Please read these chapters in full, but for this post I will only post particular scriptures.

Deuteronomy 18:10-13  10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.  11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

A Necromancer is someone who practices magic and can talk to the dead by raising them from the dead or by summoning their spirit.  Summoning their spirit is the same or similar to a failure spirit.  You can read about this in Samuel 28, when Saul was rejected by God, King Saul sought after a witch that could summon the prophet Samuel.

We can also read that this practice is still occurring with Witches but also in the church.

A current practice of Witches, they will take a doll or a poppet and go to a grave site and chant or pray for the spirit to come forth and inhabit the doll.  If a Witch needs a “boost” or they need the spirit to perform a certain task for them they bring the doll out.

I watched several videos of people in the church going to gravesites and perform something called “Grave sucking”.  It is when a member from the church will go to a dead person’s grave site and lay on the tombstone or the ground of the dead person and call the spirit forward by “Jesus name” so they can receive the spirit of the dead.  When I first watched this, I knew this was wrong.  But I had thought, well maybe it’s just a couple of young kids being dumb or they were misguided…Misguided was right.  Not only were these young men practicing Necromancy or Witchcraft but the leaders of the church were too!

The difference between the two accounts mentioned above with the Witch and the church leaders, is the witch is invoking the familiar spirit into a doll while the church leaders and members call the familiar spirit into themselves!  Church members are actually being guided by these familiar spirits.

This is not the only witchcraft practice that is being performed in the church.  But for the sake of keeping this short I will just stick with this for now…

So you may be wondering who and what church is doing this, this is just crazy!

Well the name of one of the churches is called Bethel out of Redding California.  They were introduced to this practice by John Crowder (which teaches Contemplative Spirituality, Supernatural Christianity, How to Operate in Trances (wow really?)).  On Bethels Facebook page they say, “Of course, Crowder did not originate this practice. It has been popular in the Word of Faith movement for many years. Benny Hinn used to do this a lot at Kuhlman and McPhereson’s graves”.  Wait, What???  You’re telling me that Benny Hinn also practiced Witchcraft?  Yep!

So I have left you with 3 different groups here that practice witchcraft within the church.  These are leaders that have big followings, millions!  Millions of people within the church has been exposed to false teachings and to witchcraft!  Not only are they exposed to it, the members are now practicing it.

What does the Lord say about those who practice Witchcraft?

Leveticus 19: 31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 20: And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

Leviticus 20: 27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

This is part four of my recent posts on false teachings.  This will most likely be my last post on false teachings and Witchcraft within the church.  So I want to leave you with encouragement if you are one that is or has been deceived.

God is merciful and is waiting for you to come back into his fold.  Just repent and dig into him.  Meaning, seek God through his word, prayer and worship.  Do not look to the world for teaching.  Jesus told us he is sending us a helper, which is the Holy Spirit.

I am praying for all those that are deceived or maybe deceived.

Blessings Brothers and Sisters!
